ARC(Art-Recycle-Creative) GARDENING in Ankara

ARC(Art-Recycle-Creative) Gardening is to get young people actively participating in voluntary projects within their local and wider communities.
Art, creativity,
entrepreneurship, creativity will be used as a tool of engagement for the arc gardening. The team of this project has worked around 1 year as a starter of this activity in Turkey. The main idea behind ARC(Art-Recycle-Creative) Gardening is to promote young people to get an awareness about the environment and to make them more social as the leaders of entrepreneur.

Project Aims

  • Reducing environmental effects by recycling and up-cycling
  • Promoting green entrepreneurship as a starting point in non-formal learning style.
  • Promoting active citizenship
  • Youth participation
  • Adopting and developing and creative lifestyle
  • Developing artistic skills

The materials that will be used for the garden will be 80% recycled, improving the environment and introducing a sense of up-cycling into the organization.
As a group we will collect; plastic bags, bottles, wooden crates, plastic crates, drinks cans, metal bottle tops and whatever else we can find. As Ankara is a capital city with a population of over 5 million people, the amount of waste materials produced on a daily basis are vast and often piled on the streets throughout the day until collection during the evenings.

After collecting the materials we will work together to use our inner creative genius to turn them into unique artistic ornaments, sculptures and furniture for our arc style garden.

Active citizenship

The project will increase the amount of active citizens within Ankara in 2 main ways. The first is to provide a project platform for young people to be engaged in the arts promoting entrepreneurship, they will be classed as participants but also volunteers at the same time. They will be devoting their time and energy to the project and the organization in order to produce an artist and creative guerrilla garden.

When the garden is complete they will be responsible for creating a space for other members of the community to come and embrace the arts and workshops.
The renovated space will be used for future open events, student rehearsals, socializing and a constant reminder of the possibilities of creative thinking. The garden will inspire all visitors to embrace a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and allow them to reconsider what materials they see as junk.

Youth Participation

Each week the participants will receive a creative challenge that will allow them to develop their teamwork, communication and problem solving skills. The tasks will be designed in a way that allows creativity to flow freely while working towards a fixed task and common goal.

A professional artist will deliver a taster workshop each week, these workshops will allow participants to quickly gain the practical skills needed to create unique art pieces.
