Eulothia park in Cyprus

Eleouthkia Park is the first thematic Traditional and Botanical Park in Cyprus that officially opened its doors on the 1st of March 2009. The Park is situated in Anarita village, near the Limassol-Pafos highway. The Park was named ‘’Eleouthkia’’ which means small olive trees due to the fact that throughout the years the specific location in Anarita village has always been full of olive groves. Eleouthkia Park is the only thematic park in Cyprus that focuses on the combination of tradition and nature. The Park which is 20.000 sq.m. features almost 50000 plants and flowers and is accessible especially for old and disabled people.

For the creation of traditional and botanical park "Eleouthkia” combined visions of two people, the Director Mr. Michael Chrisafi and the President of the park, Mr. Trifon Tryphon. Mr. Tryphon’s, told us that the main objectives of the creation of the park was to preserve the Cypriot traditional and the biological grown of plants and herbs. The promise of the park is to provide daily and constantly upgraded entertainment, education and sensory experience. The mission of the park is to create environmental awareness, starting from children's first, also to educate people about Cyprus traditional plants and at the same time, the park as a contemporary business, implementing a program for environmental management measures and accountability, starting from the support of local traditional products, creating ecological souvenirs and supplemented by the teacher preparation programs of environmental awareness.

Also Mr. Tryphon’s mentioned that “The botanical part of the thematic park has been detailed designed in various attractive, sympathetic and exciting ways for visitors. The park is unique due to the fact that it features all the plants that can be cultivated in Cyprus and each plant has a label with the Latin Botanical, English and Greek name. What makes this Park special is that it does not present only the botanical information. With the help of fully trained professionals, guided tours are available in which can explain the history of each plant and its traditional, gastronomical, medical and therapeutic uses.

In this amazing natural environment visitors can admire the traditional buildings which have been harmonically combined with the natural beauty. Visitors of the park can visit the traditional house and museum, the gallery and the exhibitions where they can experience and learn more about Cyprus and its heritage including pottery candle making, basket weaving and other handicrafts. In the orchard of the Eleouthkia Park visitors can find the village farm house, the stable, the traditional clay ovens, the olive mill, the wind mill, the wheat and flour mills and the grape press with the zivania cauldron. Guests can also sit at the Park’s tavern where one can enjoy homemade traditional food and dishes including some of the most delicious sweets. For those who would like to know more, educational videos about traditional food are screened at different points throughout the park. Re-enactments of Cyprus weddings and skits also take place on specific nights.

“Eleouthkia” Park is a superb venue for wedding receptions and every important event. It’s a unique place with all the necessary ingredients for a dazzling night and an unforgettable experience of flavors and entertainment.
Mr. Chisafi’s told us that Eliouthkia park is very popular for educational school trips and a lot of elementary schools from all over the Cyprus plan their trip there because as he said: “We combined joy with education”. Biological grown of herbs and plants gains the interested of their little friends, their favorite time there, as we informed is when they have active role; they can help staff at carving, irrigate, plants cutting and so more.

At the end we asked Mr. Christafi and Mr. Tryfons their suggestions for new entrepreneurs. Their answer was clear “Love what you do. The road to success is a hard one. But, if you don't love what you do, it's hard to be successful, quickly learn from your mistakes. Mistakes are inevitable the key is to learn from them fast. Stubbornness is good at this time-you want to achieve. Willing, power, optimism, positive Thinking and a lot of hardworking all the time are some of the secrets”
