BROTE BROTE: an eco-educative tale with a twist from Spain

BROTE BROTE is a different way to play: it is to read, it is to experiment, it is to make mistakes and to be able to get back on track, it is education on healthy, ecological and environmental habits, it is to play in order to grow up. This is how we can define the product of this company.

Miriam López, a woman concerned about the ecosystem, nature, education, children and especially for a job well done, is the responsible for BROTE BROTE, a successful business project. She has been awarded, in less than a year, with the Entrepreneurial Award in November 2013 and 3rd Prize in Murcia Business Competition (January 2014) in addition to having been awarded the EU candidacy Awards education.

BROTE BROTE (www.brotebrote.com) is a tale, an eco-game, an urban garden... in short, is a toy company that helps children get in touch with nature and ecology, promoting disused values such as patience, effort and enthusiasm by growing a small garden at home (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reRANgb0phQ).
In order to achieve this the company has created the Brote Brote Kit: it contains a mini-greenhouse, seeds, plant pots, peat moss tablets, a ruler and eventually a tale to explain the children how to produce their own small garden.

Caring for our environment, health, ecology, mathematics, reading, recycling, energy saving and ecological footprint are some of the essentials concepts which are in the base of the initial idea, and are the concepts that the company will try to adapt in all the kits that they will create.

The Project started when Miriam’s daughter asked her in the supermarket:  "mum, how often vegetables are
born here?" She tried to explain to her daughter where the vegetables came from, but in that moment Miriam realized that children need much more, they are curious and they have a world to discover in front of them! Thanks to her daughter, Miriam decided to start a project with an educational and ecological purposes. The first phase is to give children the chance to know the reality of their environment: how seeds germinate, how to feed ourselves properly and how to take care of our environment.

At the moment the Brand is positioning  itself and  increasingly the points of sale for BROTE BROTE
products. Now, the company is expanding itself, because in words of its founder: "It is not only important to know where  food is "born", but also to eat healthy and explain what it is to eat in colors, as each color of fruit and vegetables provide us with some vitamins. This is a game to grow, but to grow healthily". In this way, they are working in the second phase: to launch the next chapter of the kit.

When asked about the obstacles she had to face Miriam said that the main obstacle when you start a new company is the indecision and the lack of trusting, "currently we are in complicated economic situation and you have to take a risk, but finally you always find support on your family and even friends". Now the project has already begun to bear fruit and she claims that this project has brought her joy, allowed her to meet people who support the project and help her on the way.

Lastly, one advice she give to entrepreneurs is to design a business plan since the beginning to order all the ideas, establish what resources are needed, how to start and how to structure the business. Thereby it

is very important to develop a marketing strategy.
