The first re-use centre in the heart of Europe - Czech republic

Do you have at home things you do not like anymore, but they can still be used you do not want to throw them away? Do you have at home some old functional furniture that needs new design and you do not know how to make it? Bring it to Zdrojovna!

ZDROJOVNA is a beginning community centre and recycling workroom. It is based on the idea that a part of society lives in lack, while the rest abounds with surplus. Because when things still serve, they should not be considered as waste. Zdrojovna wants to contribute to better balance with making a place suitable for remodeling of different things that would have ended up in a scrap yard, attic, cellar or in a bin.

In the area of Zdrojovna there are of tools, art supplies and other materials disponible. Visitors can directly on the place renovate, beautify and decorate selected pieces like chairs, wooden frames and smaller furniture and then pay a symbolic price.

For those, who are lured to make something with their hands, but do not regard themselves as skilled enough yet, Zdrojovna offers help with experienced lectores during open workshops. Moreover, these workshop are also a social event, where people from Prague and its surroudings can meet while doing creative work, listening to good music and eating food cooked by homeless people. After some time

there will also be a database of manuals at hand. This project is based on the concept of„do it yourself“.

People who do not want to beautify their own things but like the idea of the project can buy original and renovated products in a small shop.

Project Zdrojovna contributes to the one of european priorities – to the reduction of waste production. This type of project is based on 3Rs principale – reuse, reduce, recycle and on models which are working for example in Belgium, France, Great Britain or Sweden. In the Czech Republic is Zdrojovna the first centre of re-using of things – it works as scrap yard, creative workroom, bazar and place for enucation and community development. In the future Zdrojovna would like to create job positions for people with disadvanteges.

When talking about FUNDING of the project, Zdrojovna got a grant from Prague 5, city part, for making three workshops. They are also maiking crowdfunding on the website hithit.com. Project is financed by the European Union and the European fund for regional development, they are also members of platform called We Tune Up Prague and they actively participatein other Prague companies dealing with recycling, sharing and improving of public space
